Currently, electro-diagnostic equipment accounts for 11.9% of the global demand while the remaining market share is divided between catheters, cannulae and needles (10.7%), medical and dental X-ray equipment (8.2%), artificial joints (3.7%), therapeutic respiration equipment (3.3%), massage and psychological aptitude-test equipment (2.3%), dental instruments and appliances (2.2%), ophthalmic instruments and appliances (2.2%), pacemakers for stimulating heart muscles (2.2%), medical furniture (2.1%), syringes (2.1%), computed tomography equipment (1.9%), hearing aids (1.8%), dental fittings (1.4%), tubular metal needles and needles for sutures (1.2%), breathing appliances and gas masks (0.7%), surgical, medical and laboratory sterilizers (0.5%), alpha, beta and gamma radiation equipment (0.2%), ultra-violet and infra-red ray equipment (0.2%) and other medical devices and their parts and accessories (40.9%).

China, Ethiopia, Germany, Japan and the United States are considered the highest potential markets in the coming years. China, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States represent the largest medical device markets while the strongest annual growth is forecast to occur in Ethiopia (10.0%), Sri Lanka (9.2%), India (7.6%), China (7.3%) and Ecuador (6.7%).
